EVA is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, made by copolymerizing ethylene (E) and vinyl acetate (VA). It is abbreviated as EVA, with the full name of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. It ranks as the fourth major polymer in the polyethylene family, following HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE. EVA resin generally refers to materials where the vinyl acetate (VA) content is between 5% and 40%. EVA materials refer to 'ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer' and the foamed rubber-plastic materials made from it. Compared with polyethylene, EVA has reduced crystallinity and improved flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility, and heat sealing performance due to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer in the molecular chain. It is widely used in fields such as foam shoe materials, functional greenhouse films, packaging films, hot-melt adhesives, wires and cables, and toys. It also has extensive applications in the new energy sector, such as photovoltaic materials and solar cell adhesives.
