Polyamide PA 

Polyamide resin, abbreviated as PA, commonly known as Nylon, is a general term for polymers whose macromolecular chains contain repeating amide groups. It is the most produced, diverse, and widely used among the five major engineering materials. Main varieties include PA 6, PA 66, PA 6T, PA 9T, PA 11, PA 12, PA 610, PA 612, PA 46, and PA 1010, among others. Of these, Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 have the highest output, constituting more than 90% of all nylon produced.PA 11 and PA 12 exhibit excellent low-temperature toughness. Nylon 46 has seen rapid development due to its outstanding heat resistance, while Nylon 1010 is a variety unique to China, produced using castor oil as the raw material.

Key Properties of PA12

PA12 (Polyamide 12 or Nylon 12) is a linear, semi-crystalline to crystalline thermoplastic material derived from butadiene. Its properties are similar to PA11, but it exhibits a different crystalline structure. PA12 is an excellent electrical insulator and, like other polyamides, its insulating performance is not affected by moisture. It offers good impact resistance and chemical stability. Many modified grades of PA12 are available with enhancements in plasticity and reinforcement characteristics. Compared to PA6 and PA66, PA12 materials have a lower melting point and density, along with a very high moisture regain rate. However, PA12 provides no resistance to strong oxidizing acids. The viscosity of PA12 depends primarily on humidity, temperature, and storage time. It demonstrates excellent flowability during processing, with a shrinkage rate ranging from 0.5% to 2%, depending on the material grade, wall thickness, and other processing conditions.

Typical applications of PA12 include: water meters and other commercial equipment, cable sheathing, mechanical cams, sliding mechanisms, photovoltaic backsheets, and bearings.

Product Application

PA12 (Polydecamaleic acid, also known as Nylon 12) is a highly performing thermoplastic engineering plastic. Due to its low hygroscopicity, excellent electrical insulation, outstanding impact resistance and chemical stability, it is widely used in various industrial fields. 
Main applications include:
‌Electrical and electronic field‌: As cable sheaths, insulation components and connectors, due to its excellent electrical insulation properties and resistance to moisture, it is suitable for silent gears in precision electronic devices such as DVDs, CD players, digital cameras, printers and video recorders.
‌Automotive industry‌: Used for manufacturing fuel lines, pneumatic lines, sliding parts, bearings and cams, its chemical resistance and low friction coefficient help improve system reliability and durability.
‌Industrial machinery‌: Applicable for manufacturing sliding mechanisms, gears, bearings and wear-resistant parts, especially in scenarios requiring low noise and high dimensional stability.
‌Measurement and commercial equipment‌: Often used as structural components in precision measuring instruments such as water meters and gas meters, thanks to its good molding properties and dimensional stability.
‌New energy field‌: As a photovoltaic backsheet material, it provides excellent insulation protection and environmental tolerance.
‌Special modified applications‌: The PA12 elastomer formed by polyether block copolymerization has higher flexibility and low-temperature impact strength, suitable for precision components requiring vibration reduction and quietness.
In addition, PA12 can also enhance mechanical strength and heat resistance by adding reinforcing materials such as glass fibers (e.g., 50% glass fiber reinforced grade), further expanding its application in high-performance engineering components.
